Junior safety patrol in the 1960s. A teenage boy stands with his arms out and signals to the pedestrians to stop at the crosswalk. When the cars have passed or stopped, the children can walk across the street. Being part of the Junior safety patrol was voluntary for the school students and the reward was sometimes to go on shorter trips and excursions. Nowadays, the operation is closed in many municipalities. Sweden 1964
