Jean Simmons. British actress and singer. Born January 31, 1929, died January 22, 2010. She acted mainly in film roles, first in Great Britain during and after the Second World War. As a 14-year-old, she had her big breakthrough in the film Great Expectations in 1946. The picture was taken in England in 1945 and published in the magazine Filmjournalen No. 5 in 1946 in the article with the title London's prettiest girl. It is photographer Kristoffersson who visited the then 16-year-old Jean where she lives at 120 Cheviot Garden, Hendon Way, London NW 12. Her uncle the powerful film company director J. Arthur Rank has given her a seven-year film contract and by this time has already roles in nine films.
