Charles XV IV (Carl Ludvig Eugen) (3 May 1826 ? 18 September 1872) was King of Sweden (as Karl XV) and Norway (as Karl IV) from 1859 until his death. Numbering Carl as Charles XV was by convention. Carl was actually the ninth Swedish king of that name. The Swedish kings Erik XIV (1560?68) and Charles IX (1604?11) took their high ordinal numbers in accord with the highly fictitious history of Johannes Magnus and their successors have been numbered in order.
