Loule, Algarve, Portugal - Loulé Carnival. With over 100 years of history, the carnival in Loule is the oldest carnival celebration in Portugal. Every year since 1906, the town of Loulé in the Algarve has been transformed into a colourful festival site that attracts thousands of visitors. A special feature of the carnival are the elaborately decorated floats. Each float is adorned with handmade paper flowers that symbolise the almond blossom of the Algarve
