The monolith of Corbara. In 1828, this monolith, weighing 304 tons, 17.5 metres long and 2.70 metres in diameter, was hewn from a quarry near Corbara in northwest Corsica. It was actually intended to support a statue of Napoleon in Ajaccio. But because it could not be transported due to its weight, it remained lying there and has amazed tourists in the northwest of the Mediterranean island of Corsica, France, for almost 200 years, Europe
