Cover picture of Die Bambergische Peinliche Halsgerichtsordnung (Bamberg's Communal Code of Criminal Law), a code of criminal law for Bamberg written in 1507 by Johann Freiherr zu Schwarzenberg on behalf of his bishop Georg III Schenk von Limpurg. It was published by Hans Pfeil in 1507 and regulated not only substantive criminal law but also procedural law for the high diocese of Bamberg, whereby the punitive interrogation to obtain confessions was included as a constitutive element
