Dante in his exile seeks for peace. His adherence to the White Guelfs meant that Dante was banished from his native city, Florence in 1302. Illustration shows him at the monastery of Santa Croce Cirvo where he sheltered on his way to Paris. From a painting by P. van Ouderaa.
