Caricature of wealthy American politician and civic reformer Josiah Quincy, an outspoken apologist for Great Britain and an opponent of the War of 1812. Quincy holds a sceptre in his left hand, and says, I Josiah the first do by this my Royal Proclamation announce myself King of New England, Nova Scotia and Passamaquoddy, -- Grand Master of the noble order of the Two Cod Fishes.
