Torso of an Amazon. Five bronze statues of defeated Amazons had been made by famous Greek artists for the sanctuary of Artemis and Ephesus. According to the legend the Amazons returned to Ephesus which they had founded on their way to war with Athens. This Amazon was leaning against a pillar / her right arm on her head / a deep would on her right side.
