The Cranberry Girl. The fruit of the Cranberry (Vaccinium oxycoccos), a prostrate shrub native to acid boggy moorlands in Britain, was collected by women and sold in local markets or turned into a preserve for winter use. From "The Costume of Yorkshire" by George Walker (Leeds, 1814). Hand coloured aquatint.
