Newcomen-type steam engine attributed to Jean Rodolphe Perronet, French civil engineer. (1767). Perronet (1708-1794), after training as an architect and working as a civil engineer, was appointed first director of the 'Office of the Draughtsmen of the King'. (Paris, 1767). Copperplate engraving.
