Thomas Mudge

Thomas Mudge (1717-94) English horologist born at Exeter, Devon. 18th century. Apprenticed to eminent clockmaker George Graham (1742?-1751), Mudge invented the lever escapement (c1757), and became clockmaker to George III. Engraving 1795.
