Ceremony for the release of Father Ephraim de Nevers from the prisons of the Inquisition, Goa, c1650 (1759). Ephraim de Nevers, a French Capuchin monk, went as a missionary to India in c1645. Imprisoned by inquisitors at Goa, he was liberated by the king of Golconda in c1650. From "Histoire des Inquisitions". (Cologne, 1759).
