(24 Nov 1991) --- A wide shot of Atlantis' liftoff for STS-44 was recorded by a remote camera. At 6:44 EST, Nov. 24, 1991, the spacecraft headed toward Earth orbit with a crew of six aboard. The event is reflected in the KSC marsh waters. Darkness accentuates the diamond shock effect from the three main engines.
