Caption

Perils of the Coast Guard (Rayart Pictures, 1926). Art from the original Three Sheet movie poster. Silent movie star Cullen Landis was making his way as a successful newspaper man in Nashville, Tennessee, when he gave it all up and headed to Hollywood to work as a grip and stunt double, and eventually earned the right to act. In this film Landis stars as Tom Norris, captain in the Coast Guard, who battles oyster pirates and the meddling uncle (Oscar Apfel) of Natalie Aldrich (Dorothy Dwan) who he saved from drowning and wants to marry. The film also features Jimmy Aubrey, a comedian who was an early understudy to Charlie Chaplin and had his own film series of comedies between 1919-1921 in which Oliver Hardy usually appeared as a villain..
