Nubian canopic jar, Under Egyptian influence Nubian rulers adopted their burial customs. Prior to embalming the body the viscera were removed and placed in four protective jars. This one, guarded by Imsety, would have contained the liver of the deceased. Sudan. Nubian. Meroe.
