Title
Unusual image of the goddess Wadjyt as a lion goddess
Caption
Unusual image of the goddess Wadjyt as a lion goddess, She was normally depicted as a cobra, but in this bronze figure her cobra aspect is represented by the mummified bodies of ichneumon (a mongoose like snake killer), which filled the hollow cast. The statue is supported by a clean shaven man, probably the person who dedicated it. Egypt. Ancient Egyptian. Late Period, around 8th century, BC. Delta.
