Kerosene Lamp with pot-bellied base in thick, multi-layered glass with interspersed marbling of blue, red, yellow and milky white on a crakled background. The waist is highlighted by a large appliqué with double beading. The gilt-bronze stand depicts two apple trees in blossom chiseled on a base with a pierced motif.

Le magasin "A l'Escalier de cristal", fondé en 1804 par la veuve Desarnaud, était situé à Paris, Galerie de Valois au Palais-Royal. Repris par Pierre-Isidore Lahoche en 1847, puis par son gendre Emile Pannier en 1872, le magasin déménage à l'angle des rues Scribe et Auber, et ouvre dès 1885 un département sinojaponais alors très à la mode.
