A Dutch lancer, known as a ‘red lancer’, belonging to the 2nd Regiment of Light Lancers of Napoleon I’s Imperial Guard. An elite unit within the Guard, this regiment was formed from Dutch troops and distinguished itself in its role as a fast, heavy cavalry unit in the service of the Empire.
