Raphael Sanzio or Raffaello (1483-1520). Italian Renaissance painter and architect. He was also called Raffaello Sanzio, Raffaello Santi, Raffaello da Urbino or Rafael Sanzio da Urbino. Apprentice in the workshop of Pietro Vannucci (Perugino). Magister since 1500, he improved and perfected his work with the likes of Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo. He was called to Rome by the pope in 1508, where he completed various works.
