Diane de France (1538-1619). Natural daughter of Henry II and the Piedmontese Filippa Duci, Duchess of Angouleme. Favorite of Henry III, she was responsable for raising the future Louis XIII. She played a political role in the religious wars by reconciling her brother, Henry III, with Henry of Navarre, after the assassination of Henry I, Duke of Guise, in 1588. Second wife of François de Montmorency.
