The Monastery of the Holy Virgin at Dirunka is traditionally the southernmost point of the Holy Family`s travels in Egypt. It is the centre of the largest Christian moulid or pilgrimage in Egypt. It is visited by around one million pilgrims on the occasion falling on 21st August.
