Baha`i was founded by a religious aesthete in Iran in the mid-19th century. Calling himself Baha`u`llah, he received a series of manifestations from God acknowledging the validity of the other Prophets It was led by his eldest grandson, and then by Shoghi Effendi his great grandson from 1892 to 1921. Baha`i is monotheistic based on belief in a series of manifestations by God. These accept that there were a series of Divine Prophet. Equality of all mankind is a cherished principle and the strength of the family unit is stressed.
