On 15th July 1784, the sizeable crowd that had gathered to witness the aerostatic experiment was moved to the the château de Saint-Cloud park. A new experiment had been announced in its place, referred to as the "vingt quatre jets," due to take place in the early morning. The Robert brothers had built a new elongated balloon, called « La Caroline ».
The Duke of Chatres, the Robert brothers and Collin-Hullin rose up into the air above the crowd of spectators.
