The arrival of Blanchard and Doctor Jeffries in the Forêt de Guines between Calais and Boulogne after having crossed the Channel from Dover, 7th January 1785.
The pioneers of the hot-air balloon planned to cross the Channel. Whilst Pilâtre de Rozier was associated with Pierre-Ange Romain, the former prosecutor from Rouen, in order to leave France, Jean-pierre Blanchard with his american friend and patron, John Jeffries, chose to leave Dover to land near Boulogne.
