Info+

Typical neoclassical style jewel, evidently French from the type of gold used (18 carats).
"The strength of Icarus taking him towards the sun. This image takes on a religious or magical meaning, which are often closely linked: the strength of man taming nature and nature surrendering."
The ingraving exudes a certain charm with "the figure ready to take flight."
This intaglio possesses mysterious properties as this iconography has rarely been used before (an antique equivalent was found in Sarrebourg dating from 2nd century B.C) ?
The other side of the ring was engraved in 17th century bearing the emblem of a French family, who immigrated to England during the 14th century.
