The metopolis, built on the site of a former colonial troops' camp, commemorates the sacrifice of 20 000 soldiers who fell in combat in former french Indochina between 1940 and 1954, whose ashes rest facing the sea. Alongside this, the names of the 35 000 soldiers who went missingduring these battles have been engraved on a memorial wall.
