After the franco-prussian war of 1870, Detaille went on the battlefields and designed huge panoramas relating the battles. Those were shown in France, Austria and Germany in the years 1883-1895 with great success. The Panorama of Rezonville was separated in many pieces and auctioned in Paris in 1986.
