In the center a bearded man wearing a fur hat and loose clothing strides forward with one arm extended and the other raised holding a large axe. To his right a youth in ornate clothing recoils, gripping a small sword and clutching his throat where the central figure's hand touches him. Around them several other figures brandish swords and weapons, some falling or crouching, with varied expressions of struggle. In the background there are ships with sails and flags visible on the water, and above them a sky filled with large, textured clouds. The foreground includes scattered items such as a hat and clothing on the ground and a small boat at the water's edge.
