In the foreground a man wearing a cloak and ornate doublet stands with one arm extended, while another man kneels before him reaching upward. Nearby, a man holds a long staff and others cluster close, one offering a shallow dish or plate held on a small board. The figures wear period clothing including ruffled collars, breeches, cloaks, and hats, and their expressions and gestures vary from attentive to deferential. At the left edge a small child and armed figures with spears or pikes can be seen, and a horse's head appears among the crowd. The ground shows scattered plants and texture from the engraving technique, and architectural forms flank the right side of the composition.
