His hair is curly and his facial expression appears contemplative. The robes show detailed folds and shading, and his bare feet are visible on uneven ground. In the background there is a rocky coastal landscape with distant cliffs and a small cluster of buildings on a hill. The image is rendered in fine black ink lines on a light, textured paper.
