In the foreground a dog sits with its head raised and body turned, an arrow protruding from its side, near a broken bow lying on the ground. Beside the dog a man lies face up with an arm extended, his clothing rendered in fine line work, and a fallen horse rests on its side nearby. Low grasses and shrubs frame the scene and a bird is depicted in flight toward the right.
