These prints were published in two volumes from 1777 onwards, landscape with ruins - II - ideal landscapes, lake - HH - ideal landscapes, Egeria changed into a fountain: when Egeria's grief at the death of Numa Pompilius cannot be assured, she melts away in tears, and is changed into a fountain (Ovid, Metamorphoses XV 546), A sepia-toned landscape drawing showing tall, leafy trees framing a wide open sky with scattered clouds, a distant rocky ruin on a cliff, and classical buildings with columns near the water; in the foreground a group of clothed figures are gathered on the ground with a few standing nearby, accompanied by animals including dogs and goats, while small boats rest at the water’s edge and additional small figures are seen along the shoreline.
