These prints were published in two volumes from 1777 onwards., herding, herdsman, herdswoman, shepherd, shepherdess, cowherd, cattle, other scenes from the story of Phaethon and the chariot of the sun, A sepia-toned drawing shows a pastoral scene with large, leafy trees framing a wide open sky with soft clouds and a distant shoreline visible across calm water; in the foreground three standing women in long draped garments face a seated figure who leans on a staff, and nearby an animal rests on the ground; rolling hills, scattered shrubs, and additional trees fill the middle distance while a small boat floats on the water and a bird is seen in the sky.
