These prints were published in two volumes from 1777 onwards., Mercury steals the flock which Apollo is tending, landscape with bridge, viaduct or aqueduct - II - ideal landscapes, city-view, and landscape with man-made constructions - II - ideal landscapes, A sepia-toned landscape drawing shows a cluster of large, leafy trees in the foreground with textured shading on their trunks and foliage, a gently winding river with a stone arched bridge, and a seated figure near the water playing a bowed string instrument. Grazing sheep and cattle dot the grassy banks and a few animals rest on the ground, while small human figures and herders appear along a distant path. Behind the trees a collection of classical buildings and ruins sit atop a rise, and a low range of hills stretches toward the horizon beneath a wide, open sky where several small birds are sketched in flight.
