In the foreground there are two human figures, one seated on the ground and one standing and pointing, both wearing flowing garments; a shepherd with a staff walks among a group of grazing sheep and a dog along a path that runs toward the center. To the right stand tall classical columns partially overgrown with foliage and framed by trees, and birds are sketched in the sky above layered clouds and horizontal hatch marks. The scene is rendered with fine ink lines and wash shading across varied terrain of rocks, grassy areas, and gentle slopes.
