These prints were published in two volumes from 1777 onwards., pastorals, Arcadian scenes, herding, herdsman, herdswoman, shepherd, shepherdess, cowherd, goat, landscape with ruins - II - ideal landscapes, river - HH - ideal landscapes, A sepia-toned landscape drawing showing a ruined classical temple with columns on a small hill at left, a river or pond in the foreground with reflections and arched openings in a stone wall, and a group of reclining and standing animals near the water's edge. Large leafy trees with detailed foliage occupy the right side and center, with smaller trees and shrubs scattered on the left and midground. Rolling hills and distant landforms extend toward the horizon beneath a sky with wispy clouds and a few flying birds. In the foreground a seated human figure faces the water while another figure stands further back on a path leading past the temple.
