These prints were published in two volumes from 1777 onwards., the flight into Egypt: Mary, Joseph, the child (and sometimes others) on their way, Mary usually riding on an ass - BB - landscape predominant, coast - HH - ideal landscapes, A sepia-toned landscape drawing shows a coastal scene with large, leafy trees framing both sides, a multi-story building with arched openings tucked among the trees on the left, and a distant cluster of hills and a small towered structure on the right. In the foreground a winding dirt path runs past shrubs and rocky ground, where two mounted figures travel along the path accompanied by a walking figure carrying a staff. Additional small figures appear near the shoreline and among the trees, and a group of birds flies across a sky filled with soft, billowing clouds. The overall image emphasizes trees, rocky terrain, coastal water, distant landforms, and human figures going about travel.
