A herd of cattle and goats moves along a dirt path in the lower half of the scene, some animals facing forward and others in profile, with a few animals partially obscured. Three human figures stand near the animals, two appearing to converse while another sits on a rock or low seat; their clothing drapes in flowing lines. To the left, a stone bridge spans a stream or ravine with a road leading to buildings perched on a cliff and distant ruins or towers visible on the horizon. On the right, another tall tree with exposed roots and a leaning trunk frames the edge of the composition, and several birds are depicted in flight in the sky above. The landscape includes rolling hills, scattered vegetation, and shaded areas indicating texture and depth throughout the scene.
