Figures include men and women in period clothing standing, sitting, and interacting; some are mounted on horses while others lead or tend cattle and sheep. A woman stands near the center foreground while various men gesture or converse nearby; a seated man reclines on the ground and another figure kneels beside him. Tall trees with textured foliage frame the composition, their branches arching across the sky where small birds appear in flight. In the midground there is a stone arch or cave opening at the base of a hill and small figures and animals dot the distant plain. The overall image has a painterly ink-and-wash drawing quality with visible brush and pen strokes.
