These were published bound in two volumes from 1777 onwards., pastorals, Arcadian scenes, herding, herdsman, herdswoman, shepherd, shepherdess, cowherd, river, cattle, watermill in landscape, flute, aulos, tibia - CC - out of doors, A sepia-toned landscape shows a riverside scene with trees in the foreground and middle ground, their trunks curved and branches full of foliage. A small herd of goats stands and lies near the water’s edge, some drinking and some resting. A seated man leans against a tree trunk on the right, wearing simple clothing and a hat and holding a staff or pipe. Across the water a round stone tower with a wheel attached to a low building sits near the shoreline, partially obscured by trees. Distant hills and a small cluster of buildings appear on the far bank beneath a sky with wispy clouds and a few birds in flight.
