In the middle ground a crowd forms around a procession of armed men carrying pikes and banners, and farther back there is a lively scene of people running, carts being pulled, and figures climbing or standing on raised platforms beneath arcaded buildings. The architecture includes a prominent multi-arched building with decorative upper windows, a tall clock tower with a spire rising above surrounding rooftops, and several steeply pitched roofs and ornate façades lining the square. On the right a large block-like structure with patterned walls and a steep roof stands adjacent to another tall building with buttressed walls and a tall slender spire in the distance. The sky above is filled with fine horizontal hatch marks and stylized cloud forms.
