Or in one of the two later editions of this publication which, although the year 1659 is mentioned therein as the year of publication, were published in ca. 1670 and ca. 1700 respectively., prospect of city, town panorama, silhouette of city, church (exterior), Ypres (city), A wide, horizontal black-and-white engraving shows a fortified town seen from across open fields, with a long curtain wall and bastions encircling clustered buildings and prominent churches with tall steeples and towers rising above the rooftops; windmills stand near the outer walls on both sides, and a small protruding fortification juts from the wall toward the foreground; the foreground contains plowed fields, scattered small houses and trees, and a winding road or waterway leading toward the town, while the sky is filled with fine horizontal lines and a few stylized clouds.
