Amsterdam: Hendrik Bosch, 1721., ruin of a dwelling, house, castle, Schiedam, Huis te Riviere, A wide horizontal scene rendered in fine dark lines on a light background shows a large sky with parallel horizontal hatch marks and diagonal shaded cloud forms, a distant tree-lined shore with clusters of leafy trees and low vegetation, and a rectilinear ruin with tall walls, arched openings, and a partially broken facade set among trees near the water; in the foreground a small rowboat carries three figures, one standing and poleing while two sit, and nearby a small group of waterfowl floats on the calm water.
