The town silhouette features closely spaced gabled houses, a variety of church towers and steeples including one prominent tall tower with a pitched roof, and several windmills and masts rising above the roofs. On the right side a wooden pier juts into the water with several tall sailing ships moored alongside, their furled sails and rigging detailed, and trees and clustered buildings near the shore. The sky above is filled with horizontal hatch shading and scattered cloud shapes, and the entire scene is set within an ornate rectangular border with curved corner panels and decorative corner motifs.
