Four figures in period dress stand on the pathway in the foreground, two facing away and two turned slightly toward each other, their garments rendered with folds and shading. To the right of the avenue a simple wooden building with a pitched roof sits beside a narrow water channel where water flows from an opening, and hedged and grassy areas border the path on both sides. The sky is hatched with fine horizontal lines, and the entire scene is composed of precise linear etching with varying densities of crosshatching to depict texture and shadow.
