Decorated with a new map, accurate plans of cities and print illustrations, Contemporary history, or present state of all peoples, between pp. 532 and 533., fortress, Leiden, Burcht van Leiden, A detailed engraved scene shows a raised circular fortification with a sloped grassy interior planted with small trees and bordered by terraces and stairways leading to an arched gateway at the top; ornate iron railings and gates run across the foreground, with figures walking and standing along the paved area in front, some dressed in long garments and others in coats, and a dog near a small group; flanking buildings with sloped tiled roofs and windows sit at either side, one with a person seated on a doorstep and another with steps leading up to it; peacocks stride on the ground near the lower edge and trees punctuate the terraces, while the sky above is filled with large, layered cloud forms rendered in fine line work.
