Treves being carried to the grave, 1621, Treves Endt, print, propaganda print, 1621. Allegory on the end of the Twelve Years' Truce. A coffin marked Treves and Proposition by Peckius is carried in a funeral procession by monks. In the procession, which takes the form of a Roman procession, walk a bishop, pilgrims, beggars, etc., and a statue of Saint Nicholas is carried. The procession walks in the direction of the monument of the Arminian Testament; to the right in the distance is the Arminian Funeral, the departure of the exiled Remonstrant preachers. To the left, people gather near a tall, multi-tiered monument or structure adorned with small sculptural elements and figures, and a person tends a fire within an arched opening at its base. Along the route, onlookers stand or walk, some carrying bundles or instruments, and a dog is visible near the right edge of the scene. The background shows gently rolling fields with clusters of trees, a distant windmill and tower, scattered buildings, carts, and figures moving along paths beneath a finely hatched sky.
