The foreground shows grassy banks and a small animal standing near the water, birds on the ground and a bird in the water, and a table with pottery outside a building whose open doorway reveals a standing figure. Two riders on horseback travel up the winding track past a barrel and a smaller structure attached to the main house, while further up the hill a figure walks and another figure with a staff tends a small herd of grazing livestock near a small shrine-like building and a leaning wooden post. Bare and leafed trees rise beside the houses and a larger tree canopy fills the right edge, with clouds and a flock of birds visible across a broad sky above a distant shoreline and tiny boats on the water.
