Amsterdam: Hendrik Bosch, 1721., landscape with tower or castle, castle, Heemskerk, Kasteel Marquette, A wide ink landscape shows a riverside scene with a long fence in the foreground and two clothed figures leaning on it while another small group walks along the path nearby; a small dog runs on the path and a lone boatman sits in a skiff on the water. Across the water a fortified complex with towers, stepped gables, and a rounded turret stands among clustered trees, with a bridge or causeway connecting parts of the structure. The sky is filled with horizontal line shading and stylized cloud masses, and dense foliage frames the left edge of the image.
